Llandeilo plans go on show
Consultants and county council representatives will attend an exhibition early next month to discuss plans to develop the northern quarter of Llandeilo.
A Draft Planning and Development Brief concerning the development of the northern quarter has been available for public consultation since August.
The Carmarthenshire County Council brief has been produced in accordance with the site’s residential allocation within the Carmarthenshire Unitary Development Plan (UDP).
The ambitious framework, prepared in conjunction with local firm The Davies Richards Design Partnership, follows a series of consultation meetings involving the local town council, the county council, and other interest groups.
The draft brief envisages a range of up to 215 new homes catering for a wide variety of needs, ranging from executive housing to those of an affordable nature, and which will satisfy the future housing needs of the town.
Emphasis within the draft brief is placed on creating a high quality development, with the aim of providing an attractive northern gateway to the town to equal that of the visually striking southern approach.
It is proposed that green spaces, cycle ways and easy access to the town centre be incorporated into the overall development, resulting in an area that is a sustainable and inviting place to live.
In light of the council’s potential requirements in respect of future education provision, the draft brief also seeks to identify areas within the overall site which may offer the potential to accommodate such a facility.
The draft brief can be accessed on the Council’s website at www.carmarthenshire.gov.uk and at Customer Service Centres and Planning Offices. Copies are also available for inspection at the public libraries of Llandeilo, Llandovery and Carmarthen.
A public exhibition on the draft brief has been available for inspection at the Municipal Offices, Crescent Road, Llandeilo, throughout the consultation period.
Representatives from the county council and the consultants will be in attendance at the exhibition between 9am and 4:45pm on November 4 to answer questions.
The consultation period will end on November 6, 2009. Representations should be sent in writing no later than this date to The Forward Planning Manager, Carmarthenshire County Council, 40 Spilman Street, Carmarthen, SA31 1LQ or via email to forwardplanning@carmarthenshire.gov.uk. A form for making representations is available from the above address or online at www.carmarthenshire.gov.uk
Following consultations, views gathered will be reported back to the local Members, prior to the brief being formally adopted as Supplementary Planning Guidance.
