Bronwydd caravans man prosecuted

Latest news from Carmarthenshire Council’s press office – Caravans man prosecuted
Carmarthenshire County Council has prosecuted a Birmingham man for failing to remove three caravans from land at Bronwydd Arms.
Gene Barry Beards was convicted at Swansea Crown Court of failing to comply with the requirements of an enforcement notice issued in March 2008 for the removal of two static caravans and one touring caravan from land south of Blaen Gors Farm.
Beards of Berkeley Road, Birmingham, was given a 12 month conditional discharge but was ordered to pay £3,500 for prosecution costs within six months.
The local planning authority has confirmed that the caravans still need to be removed from the land and will write to Mr Beards reiterating this fact. If this removal work is not carried out then further legal action will be instigated.
The council’s head of planning Eifion Bowen said: “The enforcement of planning control is a difficult and detailed process but failure to carry out specific works stipulated in such Notices will inevitably lead to legal action in order to protect and preserve the countryside from unauthorised changes of use and unregulated developments.”
