Côr Meibion Llanelli Male Voice Choir members are in the middle of a busy September.
They have been out and about promoting their new CD, called Angel and released on the Sain record label.
On Sunday, September 27 (7.30pm), the choir will be in concert at Rhayader in Mid Wales.
Then, they hurry home for a concert with the Vancouver Orpheus Male Voice Choir from Canada.
That will take place at Tabernacle Chapel, Llanelli, on Tuesday, September 29.
The Canadian choir’s Artistic Director is Liana Savard and the accompanist is Barry Yamanouchi.
The Vancouver Orpheus Male Choir is part of Vancouver’s thriving community choir scene.
Formed in 1992 for men of all ages who enjoy singing, the choir focuses on popular songs from many times and lands, including Broadway showtunes, spirituals, sea shanties, and rousing male voice classics.
The Orpheus Choir's Fourth CD is called Coming Home and features 16 songs from the current concert repertoire.
Côr Meibion Llanelli musical director Eifion Thomas said: “We are old friends with the choir from Vancouver and we look forward to welcoming them to Wales. They are on a seven-date tour of Wales so the Llanelli concert represents a great chance to listen to our choral colleagues from Canada.”
Meanwhile, fans of Verdi are in for a treat on Saturday, October 10.
Côr Baroc Llanelli will be presenting Nabucco at Tabernacle Chapel, Llanelli, under the direction of Eifion Thomas.
The choir will be joined by Côr Dyffryn Conwy and Côr Meibion Llanelli Male Voice Choir for what promises to be a spectacular evening.
The choirs will be joined by the City of Swansea Orchestra and soloists Gary Griffiths (baritone), Adele O’Neill (soprano), Anita Appleton (soprano), Richard Allen (tenor) and Trystan Lewis (bass).
It starts at 7pm on October 10 and tickets are £10 from 01554 756438.
Llanelli concert promoter Cerith Owens has a busy autumn schedule of events coming up.
The Royal British Legion Charity Gala Concert takes place on Saturday, October 17 at the Lyric Theatre, Carmarthen (7pm start, doors open 6.30pm).
The concert will support the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal in South West Wales.
It is being billed as, ‘A thrilling and melancholy evening with stirring and evocative music which as always will leave a lasting impression’.
This year’s concert not only raises funds for the Poppy Appeal but also marks the 70th Anniversary of the end of the World War Two, remembering the sacrifices of men and women who have served our country so courageously.
Pendyrus Male Choir and soprano Gwawr Edwards will be headlining this year’s Gala with a special guest appearance by ‘Carmarthen Local Hero’ Mark Llewellyn Evans.
Appearing once again by audience demand will be The 215 City of Swansea Squadron Royal Air Force Cadets Corps of Drums with their stirring and exciting sound.
The evening ends with a very poignant‘Tribute to the Fallen’ with a cascade of poppies.

Promoter Mr Owens has a musical treat in store in Llanelli when he stages the Loud Applause Annual Concert – ‘Night With the Stars’ - at Ffwrnes Theatre on November 7.
The concert will feature the dazzling trio of violinists The Singhs and the Morriston Orpheus Choir.
The Loud Applause Night With the Stars will also feature all the Loud Applause Rising Stars -soloists: Samuel Morris, Jordan Williams, Johnny Mansel-Lewis, Nia Rees, Angharad Elise-Thomas, Keely Morgan, Daniella Difede, Sophie Maliphant and instrumentalists Cai Charles (guitar), Rhodri Thomas (trombone), Ffion Elin Thomas (harp).

On October 24, the Hywel Choir will present The Magical Journey of Music at St Elli Parish Church. The candle lit experience will see the Hywel Choir and friends take audiences on a magical journey of song, theatre and narration. Highlights will include a fun adaptation of Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf, a bucket banging rendition of Annie, the passion and emotion of West Side Story and Les Miserables as well as cherished classics, favourites from the world of opera and heart-warming sacred sentiments.
The Grand Reunion Chorus of the Hywel Girls’ Choir & Hywel Boy Singers will enjoy a glittering post-performance Supper Ball at Machynys Golf Club on December 19 after their inaugural performance at the Great Christmas Fantasia.
The Llanelli Choral Society are preparing for their musical re-enactment of the Nativity at the heart of the town with massed choirs, orchestra, narration and theatre. The Miracle of Christmas, the first of its kind for the town, will see the Llanelli Choral Society unite with the British Sinfonietta, Hywel Girls’ Choir & Hywel Boy Singers, The Angelicus Chorus of the Hywel Choir, soprano Rhiannon Llewellyn and other artists in the candle lit surroundings of St Elli Parish Church, Llanelli on 28 November.
