'Mykids2Yourkids' website takes off for founder Alison


It was nice to chat to Alison Morrill, founder of the mykids2yourkids.co.uk website at last week's Bridgend Business Forum.
Here are some words from Alison about how the website works - 
As a Cardiff based mum of four young kiddies, I could see the need to have one kids-related site for all parents and carers to buy and sell all the stuff kids grow out of, from school uniforms, brownies/cubs uniforms to judo outfits, clarinets and much much more!
Knowing first-hand how expensive it is to fund your kids every whim, I knew just how much other parents would benefit from using such a site and not only saving money but using it to ‘pass their kid’s stuff on’ and make money back.
One big part of my plan is to contact national kids related charities to see if I can form a charity ‘partnership’ so that kids related charities can use the site as a fundraising opportunity.
We have had a fantastic response from Mencap Cymru (Jo Popham), Tenovus Wales, Children 1st (Scotland) and have just started to talk to CLIC Sargent.
I would love to think that through mykids2yourkids.co.uk not only are we raising funds for such fantastic charities but we are also helping other parents/carers across the UK to save money and make money and at the same time help the environment reuse, reduce and recycle.
So many mums I speak to are struggling with not being able to find jobs that fit in with their childcare needs.
I now have over 40 mums across the UK that are using 'mykids' as their own business tool to make money around the needs of their kids (currently a free franchise!) and in-turn helping me spread the word about the site.
So to recap (sorry, just so much exciting stuff to share with you about my plans for mykids2yourkids!) -
Mykids2yourkids.co.uk is an online service for parents/carers across the UK to make money and save money by buying and selling directly to each other all the stuff kids grow out of and at the same time helping the environment reduce, reuse and recycle.
Mykids2yourkids.co.uk also gives sellers the opportunity to donate all or a percentage of the sale of their goods to a charity.
Why use mykids2yourkids as a fundraising opportunity?
We are already up and running and momentum is building
We have an operating donate system supported by BT MyDonate
There is no risk as donations are given on sales
It’s national
The site is free to advertise and easy to use
Sellers receive 85% of the sale price or  . . .
· Sellers can donate all of a % of the sale of their goods to charity
· Buyers can buy good quality second hand items and save money
· We use PayPal for safe and secure transactions
· It helps the environment reduce, reuse and recycle

Former Gower MP Gareth Wardell was the guest speaker at the weekly meeting of Llanelli Rotary Club held at the Stradey Park Hotel. 'Class of 1980' from Burry Port enjoy reunion

There was a big class reunion held in Burry Port at the weekend. Members of the Class of 1980 from Porth Tywyn (Burry Port junior) School got together at The Coasting Pilot pub. The reunion was organised by Christine Rees and same 22 members of the original class of 28 turn up to discuss their old schooldays. One ‘Class of 1980’ member was Burry Port businessman Owain Davies. He said: “We all have very happy memories of our time in school. We had a fantastic teacher in Mr Heddwyn Jones, who now lives in Four Roads. “We were very fortunate to have the same teacher for three years and we were a very happy class. Mr Jones was an inspiring teacher and we all got on every well and we are all still good friends. “Heather Thomas (now Heather Osmond) made it from Surrey, but she was trumped by Gail Morris, who flew in from Ohio in the United States for the reunion. “It was a fantastic evening at the Coasting Pilot with good food, good wine and good company. Lauryn Davey is making her mark in athletics - but needs sponsors

Ammanford-based Lauryn Davey is making a major mark in the world of Welsh athletics. At just 16, she is the best all-round athlete of her age in Wales. She's chalking up Welsh championship victories and has been honoured by her club, the Carmarthen Harriers. Lauryn's been earmarked as a future international star, but knows the road to the big championships is difficult, demanding and expensive. Ammanford businessman and well-known comic entertainer Phil Evans has launched a campaign to get cash backers for Lauryn's athletics career. "Everyone in the area is hugely proud of her achievements in athletics to date," said Phil. "But we also want to see her go on and do bigger and better things. "Together with some friends, I am helping find ways of generating much-needed sponsorship cash for Lauryn.
