Pembrokeshire event to help you keep your heart healthy!

Yoga, relaxation techniques and a lesson on healthy snacking are just some of the activities on offer for people with heart problems in Pembrokeshire.
Hywel Dda Health Board’s Cardiac Rehabilitation team in Pembrokeshire and Pembrokeshire Leisure are running a special one day event on how to keep your heart healthy.
Cardiac disease is the single biggest cause of premature death in Wales and 9 per cent of the people within Hywel Dda are being treated for a heart condition.
Hywel Dda Health Board is pledging to prevent 200 people a year developing heart disease over the next five years but it needs your help.
The patient convention is being held to educate cardiac patients, carers and their friends about the importance of a healthy heart.
Common risk factors for heart disease include being overweight, poor diet, lack of exercise, high alcohol intake and smoking.
The patient convention will give people a chance to hear from health professionals as well as the chance to partake in exercise and relaxation workshops.
As well as talks and workshops there will also be a chance to see stands from other agencies.
There will also be a chance to sign up to Hywel Dda Health Board’s engagement scheme Siarad Iechyd/Talking Health.
The event costs £2.50 and is taking place at Haverfordwest Leisure Centre on October 19 from 9am-3.30pm. Numbers are strictly limited but anyone who feels they may benefit from the day should contact the cardiac rehabilitation team on 01437 774255.
