First ever Fashion Week for Llanelli

Forget last week’s London Fashion Week - Llanelli is where the latest trends will be found when the town hosts its first ever fashion week. (March 21- 25)
The fashion extravaganza will include live shows and events across the town, covering all range of clothing, from evening wear to bridal, sporting, and casual. Top models, including local celebrities, tv presenters, Scarlets rugby players, and one or two surprises, have been lined up to add an extra sparkle to the proceedings.
And for some shows, the organisers have teamed up with the Scarlets and Ffos Las Racecourse to offer free entry to a match and race meeting. People who buy tickets for the Wednesday night show at Parc y Scarlets, which will feature high street trends, will be given free tickets for the following weekend’s Magners league clash between the Scarlets and Benetton Treviso, while the first 100 people to buy tickets to the Dress For The Races fashion show at the town’s Diplomat Hotel on the Tuesday night, will get free entry into any raceday at Ffos Las.
The five days of glittering fashion events will be held across the town, all in aid of the Ray Gravell And Friends Charitable Trust.
The event is being coordinated by a special committee chaired by Angela Saunders, proprietor of the Stradey Park Hotel and a member of the Trust. The extravaganza is being sponsored by local businesses, including the Scarlets and Ffos Las, and Carmarthenshire County Council.
“We are really excited to have so many businesses on board, and we are really looking forward to showing off what the town has to offer. This is the first Llanelli Fashion Week and it will be held in five different venues around the town. There will be a different theme every day, with different traders, and we are hoping to raise a large amount of money, " she said..
“There will be something for everyone to enjoy as nearly 50 retailers from the town centre and Trostre showcase the latest looks from casual and work wear to wedding gowns and prom dresses, “ she added.
Also showcasing the latest trends will be the lucky finalists of our forthcoming competition to find the Face of Llanelli, open to males and females hoping to be the next big thing on the runway. Budding designers are also in with a chance to see their creations brought to life as they compete to be crowned Llanelli Designer of the Year.
The week will kick off with a catwalk show at the St Elli Centre, on Monday, March 21, followed by the Dress For The Races night at the Diplomat Hotel on Tuesday, the Parc Y Scarlets extravaganza on Wednesday, Bridal and Prom Wear at the Thomas Arms on Thursday, and the Llanelli Dresses The Stars grand finale at the Stradey Park Hotel on Friday.
