Weatherman Derek said: “I’ve been set a challenge to try something new at different libraries across Wales. During the festival I will be shown survival techniques with expert Andrew Price in Monmouth.
“I will also be learning to knit at Milford Haven Library and trying out a bit of rap with renowned Welsh rapper Ed Holden at Bangor Library – I can’t wait! It just goes to show that libraries offer much more than books and cater for all types of hobbies and interests.”
Carmarthenshire’s education executive board member Cllr Gwynne Wooldridge said: “We are delighted to be part of the Welsh Libraries Festival and hope that people will enjoy starting to research their own family history. “They can continue to use the resources after the festival as they are available in our libraries every day.”
Heritage Minister Alun Ffred Jones said: “Libraries are at the heart of the communities they serve, offering something for everyone. The festival is a great opportunity for the whole family to try something new and to bring libraries to the forefront of people’s minds.”
