Just five Carmarthenshire schools closed

Only five schools in Carmarthenshire are closed today despite adverse weather conditions.
They are Betws, Llangain, Ysgol Rhys Pritchard, Carreg Hirfaun and Abernant.
Some secondary schools are open to certain year groups only, these are Coedcae which is open to years 10 and 11 today, and to years seven, eight and nine tomorrow; Q E High School open to years 10, 11, 12 and 13; and Gwendraeth open to years 10, 11, 12 and 13.
Some schools are asking parents to supply packed lunches, there are also disruptions to some breakfast and after school clubs and many playgrounds are closed.
Most schools are asking pupils and parents to take care on approach roads and within school grounds, many are advising them to go via the main entrances only.
The council’s technical services department has offered to grit all main entrances to schools where this would allow them to open.
Some 30 schools to date have taken this opportunity and managed to reopen last Friday.
For more details on individual schools visit the county council website at www.carmarthenshire.gov.uk
