New loyalty cards launched at Cwmcerrig Farmshop and Grill

A new series of loyalty cards has been launched at the award-winning Cwmcerrig Farmshop amd Grill near Gorslas.
There is one loyalty card which rewards regular shoppers at the farmshop and another which gives ‘coffee credits’ at the grill and café.
“We recognise that we have a very loyal customer base here at Cwmcerrig,” said junior partner Nick Bowen.
“Our customers appreciate our philosophy on provided top quality meat and local produce.
“And they come back time and time again.
“With that in mind, setting up the loyalty card is a move to say thank-you to our regular customers. We really do value their support.”
Nick added: “It pays to shop at places where you can genuinely trust the standard, the quality and the origin of your meat products.
“The consumer has some clear choices. Yes, the big supermarket chains are popular, but we are increasingly finding that people are starting to care much more about the origin of their meats and what goes into different meat products.
“This is where shops like Cwmcerrig win hands down. We cut down on the food miles and where possible we use our homebred Hereford cattle and farm-raised Texel sheep and lambs.
“We have the finest venison sourced from the prestigious National Trust farm at Dinefwr Park.
“All our other meat products are from local suppliers. We care passionately about the environment and cutting down on food miles is very important to us.
“The fewer miles between the animal and the plate the better. It is better in animal husbandry and welfare terms, it is better environmentally and that means it is better for all of us.
“Also, the beauty of running a farmshop where everything is sourced so close to home is that we can vouch for the integrity of our products.”
Cwmcerrig has won two prestigious Gold Taste of Wales awards.
The awards are regarded as the ‘Oscars’ of the food and drink industry in Wales.
Other recent awards include two National Trust Fine Farm Produce awards.
The business was rewarded for its Dinefwr Venison and Dinefwr Venison Red Wine and Onion Sausages.
Cwmcerrig Farmshop first opened in 2009 with the aim of securing a sustainable future for the family farm and providing quality, value-for-money produce to the local community. There are 21 members of the Watkins family involved in the project. The Watkins family (Roland, Reuben, Stuart, Tom and Davina) have been farming at Cwmcerrig since the 1950s.
