Conference date for Carmarthenshire Youth Council
Carmarthenshire Youth Council and Carmarthenshire County Council are inviting young people to their annual youth conference.
This year the theme is ‘Let’s Talk P.S.E’ and all secondary schools and youth projects within the county are welcome to attend.
Sarah Powell, Young People’s Participation Officer, said: “The purpose of this year’s conference is to gather the views and opinions of young people on the subject of P.S.E being delivered in Carmarthenshire schools. P.S.E and Citizenship is a curriculum area which is designed to give pupils the knowledge and understanding they need to lead healthy, independent lives and to become informed active and responsible citizens and the purpose of the conference is to bring young people together to share their views, ideas and experiences and highlight them to decision makers and service providers.”
The conference is free, and youth groups and schools who wish to attend should arrange for four young people and a member of staff to represent their school or project at the conference.
Carmarthenshire Council’s Executive Board for Education and Children’s Services, Keith Davies, added: “Personal and Social Education helps young people interact better with others and is a great way of developing young people’s self esteem. P.S.E is a fantastic topic for a youth conference and I will look forward to the new ideas that they will bring forward to the decision makers at Carmarthenshire County Council.”
The conference will be held on Wednesday, November 21, at Parc y Scarlets, from 9am-2:30pm. To ensure your place at the conference, all organisations will need to confirm their attendance no later than Friday October 19.
