Bid to tackle derelict properties in Ammanford
Plans to demolish a row of derelict properties in Ammanford and transform the area are coming closer.
Carmarthenshire County Council is negotiating to buy the final property at Foundry Row off Foundry Road in the town. Those negotiations are now nearing completion.
The intention is to demolish the boarded-up properties and create a car park and gateway feature.
Physical regeneration projects manager Steffan Jenkins said: “Buying the last property is the final piece of the jigsaw for Foundry Row and we hope to acquire the building very soon.”
Council deputy leader Cllr Kevin Madge said: “I welcome the fact that this eyesore is going to be demolished and that the Master plan for the regeneration of Ammanford is well underway.
“This is part of the jigsaw that is now being resolved. I want to thank our officers who worked closely with the Welsh Government on this.”
