The lovely ladies of Côr Lleisiau’r Cwm will be hosting a special anniversary concert at Ffwrnes Theatre, Llanelli, on Saturday, July 2.
Earlier this year, the choir celebrated with a special anniversary dinner at the Stradey Park Hotel, Llanelli.
Côr Lleisiau’r Cwm have an enviable reputation for charity work and the proceeds of their dinner were donated to the Kidney Organisation Wales.
The July 2 concert will feature Welsh singing star Sophie Evans.
Sophie is well known for her role as Dorothy in the West End Production of The Wizard of Oz.
She has gone on to broaden her career with regular TV and radio appearances.
Côr Lleisiau’r Cwm will, of course, be under the baton of dynamic musical director Catrin Hughes.
Also starring in the concert will be Cadi Lois, Gruff Sion Rees, A Cappella, Gildas, Sara Mair and Carys Haf and Samuel Morris.
Co-presenters for what promises to be a memorable evening are Matt Johnson and Steffan Powell.
Also coming up at Ffwrnes will be a Summer Musical Extravaganza featuring Ysgol Bryn Teg on June 29 and 30.
The show is being billed as a vibrant musical event suitable for the whole family.
If jazz is your scene, then June 28 at Ffwrnes sees The Dave Cottle Trio appear at the intimate Stiwdio Stepni venue at the theatre.
The Dave Cottle Trio are the house trio at Swansea’s jazz club, Jazzland.
Over 20 years, The Dave Cottle Trio have accompanied leading UK and international jazz artists, building an excellent reputation amongst the jazz community.
Dave Cottle will add vocals and brass to Alun Vaughan on bass and Paul Smith on drums.
Looking further ahead, Côr Meibion Llanelli Male Voice Choir will be staging their annual concert at Ffwrnes Theatre, Llanelli, at 7pm on Saturday, September 24.
The choir’s special guests will be Penrhyn Male Choir (Penrhyn Male Choir) from North Wales.
The two choirs are ‘old friends’. Côr Meibion Llanelli performed with Côr Penrhyn at one of the first events to be staged at the new Bryn Terfel Theatre at The Pontio arts centre in Bangor earlier this year.
Côr Penrhyn are paying back the favour by journeying south for the Côr Meibion Llanelli concert.
In other news, Stradey Castle will be the beautiful setting on 25 June for an exciting orchestral and choral Summer Soirée hosted by the Hywel Girls' Choir and Hywel Boy Singers. The black tie evening will feature a blend of summer cocktails and music from the highly acclaimed Angelicus Chorale and British Sinfonietta under the baton of John Hywel Williams.
The Hywel Choirs and Angelicus will join forces with the mighty Pontarddulais Male Choir on 16 July for their Noel Davies Memorial Concert.
The Hywel Choirs look forward to an exciting autumn and winter season with performances at Saint David’s Cathedral (15 Oct), The House of Lords (26 Oct), Saint Catherine's Church Gorseinon (18 Nov), the choir's traditional festive sell out Christmas fantasia (3 Dec), their traditional Christmas performance at the Brangwyn Hall (11 Dec) and an exclusive Christmas performance at Covent Garden London (22 Dec).
With growing public demand for tickets for December's Christmas Fantasia, tickets have been released to the public early and are available now.
This year's exciting Christmas Fantasia will feature the Hywel Choirs, Angelicus, with international Welsh opera star Gary Griffiths under the symphonic sounds of the British Sinfonietta. In addition to a range of festive favourites, the night will include new year celebrations from Vienna and magic from the Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty and die Fledermaus and some secret creative ingredients!
