New award to recognise Carmarthenshire’s top young ambassador
The search is on to find Carmarthenshire’s top young ambassador.
Nominations are invited for Young Ambassador of the Year 2015, an award sponsored by the council’s sport and leisure department, as part of the Radio Carmarthenshire and Scarlet FM Young Achiever Awards.
To be considered you will need to be part of the county-wide programme which has more than 180 youngsters signed up including 157 Bronze, 24 Silver, 6 Gold and a Platinum.
You will also need to tell the radio station why they deserve the award.
Ambassadors are trained by the council’s sport and leisure team and part of their role is to encourage and inspire other children in their school to take part in sport and physical activity by running lunchtime clubs.

The aim of the programme is to get more people, more active, more often.
There are three stages at county level – bronze, silver and gold – that start at primary school age right through to university level. Carmarthenshire student Theo Davies-Lewis is a Platinum Young Ambassador and their voices are heard on sporting matters across Wales.
Executive board member for regeneration and leisure, Cllr Meryl Gravell said: “We are extremely proud of the fantastic work the Young Ambassadors do in the county. Without the support of the ambassadors, school sport and community participation would not be as high as it is.”
If you know of anyone who is a Young Ambassador in Carmarthenshire and would like to nominate them for their commitment and dedication, please nominate online here or visit www.radiocarmarthenshire.com
