This year we have something for all fans of independent film from all corners of the world. We’ll be screening animation, sci-fi, drama, comedy, documentaries and music videos. Also we have filmmakers flying in for Q and A sessions.
It's also been another fantastic response from filmakers from all around the world. Thanks to them submissions for this years festival are up by 50%!
We've come a long way since our first festival with only 35 submissions to 208 submissions for this year, which will be our fourth.
The festival is definitely moving in the right direction with not only an increase in submissions but the number of festival partners joining us.
This year Sony, Pinnacle,Final Draft, Royal Television Society(Wales) plus many local companies have come on board.
This year the festival has also become a BAFTA Cymru/Wales qualifying festival.
If your company or organisation would like to advertise or promote themselves in this years festival programme . . . or if you would like to know more or get involved in the festival in anyway please contact us at admin@carmarthenbayfilmfestival.co.uk.
The festival is being held at Llanelli’s Stradey Park Hotel, from May 12-15.
“It is astonishing how the festival has grown in popularity from very small beginnings,” said Festival CEO and organiser Kelvin Guy.
“They say great things grow from little acorns and that is very true of the film festival.”
There is added glitz and status to this year’s festival as the event is now on the approved list for BAFTA Cymru Wales.
Mr Guy added: “The BAFTA abbreviation is pretty special in the world of film. The British Academy of Film and Television Arts is recognised as a hugely prestigious organisation worldwide. To get this recognition from BAFTA Cymru Wales is a huge honour and is a great achievement when you consider what the festival has achieved since it launched in 2011.
“Being on the list of approved BAFTA Cymru Wales festivals helps give added prestige and stardust to the festival, with entrants now being eligible for BAFTA awards as well as the ones on offer at the festival.”
In association with S4C and RTS Wales, the Carmarthen Bay Film Festival 2015 will be screening Kevin Allen's film "Dan y Wenallt" and the documentary "My Grandfather Dylan" at this year's festival.
Also there will be a Q&A session with the programme maker Phil George.
Both will be screened on the afternoon of Tuesday May 12 at the Stradey Park Hotel, Llanelli. Screening times will be published by the end of next week on the festival website.
All screenings during the festival are free.
The festival runs from Tuesday the 12th to Friday the 15th of May.
Entries for this year’s festival have come from all corners of the globe, including Taiwan, Iran, Iraq, Israel and North and South America
Mr Guy said: “The global response has been fantastic and I’d like to think that the festival is doing its best to put Llanelli and Carmarthenshire on the world map for film-makers.”
