'May the force be with you' on May the Fourth!

'May the force be with you' on May the Fourth!
Fun runners taking part in the annual Carmarthen Town Mayor's Fun Run races are being encouraged to wear fancy dress.
And the date of the race makes it extra special for fans of one of the great movie franchises - Star Wars.
The race is on May the Fourth - the day popularly branded 'May the Force' Day by fans of the science fiction movies.
"It's a great opportunity to mark the occasion is style and for fun runners to dress up in Star Wars themed fancy dress to 'feel the force'," said fun run spokesman Robert Lloyd.
"We always get fancy dress runners on the day. Batman was a big hit last year and we've also had the '118' guys. But this year, there's the chance to go for a big theme because the race is on May 4.
"We'll be looking for Han Solo and Luke Skywalker on the day - and I am sure the Star Wars fans will have plenty of ideas for other characters who may want to take part.
"It is all part of the fun of what is a great day in Carmarthen - a day when we  welcome hundreds of run runners - and plenty of serious amateur runners - to the town."
There's less than three weeks to go to the annual Carmarthen Town Mayor's Fun Run races.
Runners of all ages, shapes and sizes are being encouraged to take part in the races on May Bank Holiday Monday.
The event, which has been held in the town over the past 33 years, will take place on the morning of Bank Holiday Monday, May 4.
"This is the 34th running of the races and we are hoping for a bumper turnout," said race organiser Noelwyn Daniel.
Mr Daniel added: "The beauty of the Carmarthen Mayor's Fun Run races is that they take place in the heart of the town centre, affording great opportunities for spectators to cheer on the runners.
"We are also encouraging local businesses to enter teams. Businesses can dress up in the corporate colours and logos and earn themselves some free publicity by taking part."
The event has raised thousands of pounds for charity over the years with many local groups and organisations benefiting.
Schools are being contacted and visited by race organisers to encourage the pupils to sign up for the event.
There is the main 5k fun run and a series of junior races.
The junior races cater for school years two to 10. The senior fun run has categories for males and females aged under 40 and 35, and veterans groups for older age groups.
Everyone who completes the course gets a medal. Online entry in now open on the website for the races at - http://www.rasusymaer.org.uk

Entry fees remain the same as they were in 2014 with the 5Km Fun Run being £5.00 for affiliated runners and £7.00 for non affiliated. Children's entry fee has been reduced to £3.00.
Entry Fees are before May 4:
UK Affiliated runners - £5.00
UK Non Affiliated runners - £7.00
Junior runners - £3.00
Mini Fun Run - £2.00
Wheelchair athletes - £3.00
On the Day Entry Fees :
UK Affiliated runners - £8.00
UK Non Affiliated runners - £8.00
Junior runners - £3.50
Mini Fun Run - £2.50
Wheelchair athletes - £3.50
There is an additional charge will be made for those entering on the day - this is common practice for most events of this nature. This fee will be £1.00 for adult 5km and 50p for children's races. It is hoped that this will encourage more runners to enter before race day itself, either online or by post.

Volunteers will be needed on the day.
Do you have a few hours to spare on May 4t? Why not come and help out with some marshalling and feel the reward of helping others and contributing towards the success of the event. If you are able to then the marshalls are all asked to meet in St Peter's Hall at 9:00am on race day.

The organisers are still seeking race sponsors.
Anyone who can help is asked to contact Carmarthen Town Council clerk Selwyn Thomas, email selwyn@carmarthentowncouncil.gov.uk
