Top award for Stagecoach Carmarthen hero Aaron

A pupil at Carmarthen’s leading theatre arts school has scooped a prestigious national award.
Aaron Pryce-Lewis (pictured centre above), aged 17, from Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, was awarded Gold for Excellence in this year’s Stagecoach Inspiration Awards.
The Stagecoach theatre arts school Inspiration Awards were created to celebrate inspirational young people and were launched in 2009 at the House of Commons.
The awards recognise, acknowledge and reward young people from all walks of life who have faced adversity, demonstrated bravery, shown courage, cared for others and are good role models for young people.
Aaron received his award at a special presentation ceremony at the Victoria Palace Theatre, London, the home of Billy Elliot the Musical.
Liane Davies, the principal of Stagecoach theatre arts school in Carmarthen, said: ‘‘Aaron has been with us at Stagecoach Carmarthen for just over three years and his dedication and passion for musical theatre is second to none.
"Aaron literally lives and breathes musical theatre. If he has five minutes to spare, he will be playing or writing his own music. The musical theatre work Aaron has already been involved with at the age of 17 is astounding.
"He has already performed in front of Jude Law in a National Youth Music Theatre performance of Sweeney Todd and most recently he recorded a performance for the BBC, not to mention roles with the Welsh National Youth Opera workshops and the Haverfordwest and Milford Haven Operatic societies.
"Aaron is adored by his fellow students and is always willing to share his time with others. He is an inspiration and a truly exceptional performer and quite possibly a future West End Star.’’
“The awards are our way of celebrating the achievements of young people from all walks of life who have faced great challenges in their everyday lives. Young people like Aaron are the unsung heroes of today.”
Opera duo Jonathan and Charlotte, runners-up in the 2012 Britain’s Got Talent competition joined Aaron at the presentation on stage at the Victoria Palace Theatre.
The Stagecoach Inspiration Awards are supported by The Stage, RADA, Spotlight, CBT, Daily Express and many more from the world of arts and entertainment.

Stagecoach Theatre Arts Carmarthen has its base at the Model Church in Wales School.
The school opened in May 2009 and became an instant success. The school now attracts students from the three counties of Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion.
In recent years, Stagecoach Theatre Arts Carmarthen has staged the musicals Billy Elliot, Oliver and Annie.
Liane added: “Our aim is always to nurture and develop four to 18-year-olds to fulfil their potential through dance, drama and singing.
“It’s not all about treading the boards on stage. Early stages classes focus on allowing the children to express themselves, while at the same time building up confidence, poise and self-esteem. Above all, we make sure the experience is fun! The children love it.”
