Eco Eli and Tidy Ted on the road again
Eco Eli and Tidy Ted are taking their fun-packed show to Welsh language primary schools across Carmarthenshire to teach them the importance of our environment.
The council’s eco-friendly elephant is back on the road with the all-singing and all-dancing Gregory Brothers and her new friend Tidy Towns mascot Tidy Ted.
Together they are spreading the word on issues such as waste reduction and recycling, litter and dog fouling.
The Welsh version of the show is now visiting Welsh language primary schools across the county and aims to raise awareness of the environment and what we can do to protect it in a light-hearted and entertaining way.
Funded through grants from the Welsh Assembly Government, the fun-packed show is a partnership between Carmarthenshire County Council and Tidy Towns.
The show was launched at Ysgol Pontyberem and pupils from Ysgol Y Fro also went along to join in the fun along with the council’s executive board member for education Councillor Gwynne Wooldridge.
He said: “The show will help to educate the children on why we need to reduce and recycle our waste and the harm caused by littering and dog fouling in our towns and villages. It really is an excellent way of delivering these important messages to our young people so that they can learn and enjoy themselves at the same time.”
Seven-year-old Lily Pickles from Ysgol Y Fro got up on stage to sing and dance with the stars of the show. She said: “I learnt that throwing rubbish on the ground is not nice for the world and we need to take care of the world because if we throw litter it can make animals sick and they can die.”
