Royal visit for Carmarthenshire

Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales, is to make a royal visit to Carmarthenshire this week.
The Prince and the Duchess of Cornwall will arrive in the county as part of their annual Wales Week.
They will join in the centenary celebrations at Ysgol Rhys Prichard, visit Corgi Hosiery, which has a Royal Warrant, and attend Dyfed Powys Police’s long service award ceremony, as part of the five day tour.
There will also be visits to Carmarthen and District Youth Opera, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary , and the National Wool Museum at Drefach-Felindre.
His Royal Highness will visit Ammanford’s Corgi Hosiery on Friday, where he will be received by the Lord Lieutenant the Hon Robin Lewis and his wife Mrs Judith Lewis.
He will meet staff and dignitaries and will be entertained by local schoolchildren.
The Prince will be given a tour of the factory, and view demonstrations in the machine room, the sock finishing area and the knitwear area.
He will see how garments are put together, meet the hand sewers and see how the wash and press process works.
Prince Charles will visit the National Wool Museum at Drefach Felindre on June 28, where he will receive a tour of Melin Teifi and the museum and attend a reception for Campaign for Wool.
He will be shown machinery in operation at Melin Teifi, which is the last mill in Wales producing traditional flannel.
HRH will see members of Ceredigion Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers using their spinning wheels and view other demonstrations at the site.
The Royal Couple will visit Dyfed Powys Police’s headquarters at Carmarthen on Wednesday June 30 where they will meet senior staff before attending the long service award ceremony.
The Prince will present 31 medals, three long service awards and two special constable long service awards.
From there they will travel straight to Carmarthen and District Youth Opera, as part of the group’s 30th anniversary celebrations.
Council chiefs and dignitaries including Carmarthenshire County Council Chairman Tegwen Devichand and Chief Executive Mark James will meet the Royal Party.
The Youth Opera’s president, Wyn Rees, and vice president, Wyn Davies, will escort their Royal Highnesses inside to view a special performance, and they will then be invited on stage to meet members of the group.
A plaque will then be unveiled to commemorate the visit.
On July 2, the couple will visit Ysgol Rhys Prichard School in Llandovery as part of the school’s centenary celebrations.
Whilst there they will visit two classrooms, before moving into the playground and garden area where they will see children working in the vegetable patch.
They will meet the governors and PTA members, before unveiling a plaque and viewing a new stained glass window to be erected at the school.
